Objective (as in “objective”) adj. : belonging to immediate experience of actual things or events; “concrete benefits”; “a concrete example”; “there is no objective evidence of anything of the kind”
Subjective (as in “subjective”) adj. : taking place within the mind and modified by individual bias; “a subjective judgment”
Within common society, which most people live at a lower level of consciousness, perceives everything as objective. The earthly life is objective, which objects become the focus for most within their life. Even the body most view as objective – they are the body. Duality is all that can be ascertained due to the lower level of consciousness which creates ignorance. Consequently, the ignorance will keep the person stuck in the duality of this world and stuck in the rebirth cycle.
Objectifying creates slavery to the senses, attachment, selfishness, greed, and negative emotions that create pain-karma. The ego attaches onto objects and the duality of this world. Thus, for a person to attain the ultimate goal of spirituality; a person has to progress toward putting this whole world in subjection, and at the same time not refraining from action, but devoting all action to the Almighty Divine as a sacrifice. Considering that only few people are able to attain subjecting all things of this world and earth. What does a individual need to do to attain a life of subjection?
Considering that everyone (except the few) live at a lower level of consciousness, although the level for some is in the positive zone; a person needs to seek and never give up. Without earnest, single focused; actively seeking the truth, a person will not be able to attain an accurate knowledge of the truth. Once a person gives up their position of religion, or one focused dogma, then a person can start looking at this world of duality and how it is tied to objects. If a person can step back and come to understand our true “Self” the formless spirit, and how the ego is no part of it, then a person should be able to see how everything is subjective to our formless spirit.
Subjecting all things of this world is strongly related to non-attachment. The state of pure consciousness, along with the oneness with the spirit of the Divine, has nothing to do with this world. Nothing. Since only a very few have attained pure consciousness, the goal should be to progress toward a high level of oneness with the spirit of the Divine, and a higher level of consciousness.
Subjecting has to do with not having an interest. Not having an interest in what the world pursues, a person would want to avoid: attitudes, revelries, religion, materialism, love of money, idolatry, lust for food, selfishness, greed, arrogance, and so forth.
Making this world and everything in the world subject, the person needs to stay in touch with our formless spirit, and progress to the point that the mind only thinks upon spiritual matters and not worldly pursuits. Consequently, the spiritual mind becomes the meditative mind of the formless spirit; thus, the person comes to the point of viewing the mind, itself, as subjective and impersonal. Viewing the mind and ego as impersonal – subjecting this world becomes so much easier. What should matter most is the formless spirit that is eternal; never can or will die, it’s impossible.
The Bhagavad Gita chapter 13:10,11; paraphrased from two different translations.
“An unwavering devotion to the Divine. Center all thought on Divinity. Turn your back on social life and the commotion of the crowds. Have an intense love for solitude, and distaste for involvement in worldly affairs. Persistence in knowing the inner spirit (Self) and awareness in the goal of Knowing – this is called true knowledge; what differs from it is ignorance”.
Applying this in one’s life, a person will be subjecting this objective world.
Jesus, when he walked the earth, continually subjected this world. John 16:33; John writes according the translation of the KJV that “Jesus has overcome the world”. The Greek word “nikao” they translate into “overcome” defines as “to subdue”. The translator’s most likely get confused, not knowing what John meant. What John wrote was that Jesus subdued the world, thus he made this world subjective to his true source and did not get involved in worldly pursuits. Matthew and Luke write that Jesus always looked for places of solitude.
The Dhammapada teaches that The Buddha said at chapter 13:4
“Perceive the world as a bubble. Perceive this world as a mirage. If you see the world in this way, you render the Lord of Death powerless. The Buddha taught subjecting this objective world.
Jesus, Krishna, and The Buddha all taught about subjecting this objective world, along with non-attachment. Each person taught within the culture of their time and took the belief system of the era into consideration. Very few people understand the deep bottom root context of what Jesus was talking about within the gospels.
If a person finds themselves to blend in with this world, or any part of it; the ultimate goal is at a far reach, and will be impossible to attain. Religion is a best friend of the world which is an object of idolatry. To attain the ultimate goal in spirituality, the person has to make a goal of subjecting this objective world, and all things that are in the world, and all that relate to the world.
This whole world is under the power of the wicked ones.
Great post; lots of good thoughts here.
The good thing is that this world is all already over, just as it never was. To say the world is under the power of the wickedness does not help me. If I truly subject this world to my mind as the cause of it, including my own self-image and body, then the devil or what you call the wicked ones, can only be an idea of my mind, projected outside of me. Yet the power is still in my mind, whether I am aware of it or not. Thank God. Truly a new idea to accept and be happy. All I have to do is to accept it and give it away, practice it in every circumstance, without defending myself against what seems to be attacking me, for it can only be my thoughts.
Thank you for all your teaching.
I kind of know where your coming from, although take a cement brick ( a heavy one) and drop it on your foot. Did it hurt, that is called the present. Now a person can transcend and find the pain subjective, which it is. Although if you broke a toe or bone, I am sure you will go to the doctor. So saying that this world is already over does not make sense.
The wicked, deceiving lower entities have a person right where they want them, if they can get the person to not believe that they exist.
The battle is the darkness against the light.
Well, what battle? Do you think the light fights back? Does light even know of darkness? Isn’t there light everywhere where there is light? Does not the darkness disappear where there is light? So, what battle?
Take the example with the cement brick, what are the assumptions that you have to accept for yourself and who you are, to even make this statement? Who are you in your idea about yourself, to let yourself do this? In other words, what are you trying to prove? Truth certainly does not need such defense. Are you the darkness? Are you pretending to be a thought form, while being all the light there is?
A Course in Miracles is very clear on this. There is no discussion and no doubt. You are not a body, you are free, and still as God created you. Therefore, pain is a wrong perspective. Therefore, you might say, the pain is real, but you do not exist as that self-identity.
The darkness battles through deception and ego-driven behaviors such as, selfishness, greed, arrogance, hate, and so on. The battle for the light is to conquer the bad by doing good, seeking truth to come out of the deception. The darkness battles by harding the heart of people. I am taking about the children of light and darkness, spirit and human.
Of course all things are subjective to our spirit, which is formless. Although our spirit (true self) is stuck in the human cycle. If you don’t believe this and the cement brick did not work. Take your hand and put it flat on a 2×2 and drive a nail (a thick one) through your palm.
So is the blood, and pain, and being stuck there on the 2×2 a part of who you are? Or are you just some place else not experiencing the displeasure? Or did this already happen and what your going through is just some dream?
Of course our true self as spirit is not effected, nor can our spirit be harmed. Although since the spirit is stuck as a human, what we go through, becomes reality.
If you don’t believe this then try the above concept with a 2×2, take a nail an drive it through your palm with a hammer.
The Bhagavad Gita clearly teaches about our true Self. What you are teaching is nothing new. The ego attaches to the identity of the body. Our true source is our formless spirit. The problem is that even when a person transcends the ego; the person will still be in human form.
If you quit eating food, your human self will die, your formless spirit (higher Self) never dies, it will just go into another womb, unless the person came to a higher level of consciousness.
